There were some 9,000 marriages that were registered in Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia between 1864 and 1908. The full Registry contains a great deal more information than the Marriage Index, which is found elsewhere at this web site.
Lynda Andrew transcribed the Registry data for the period 1864 to 1887 and has kindly provided that information for all to access here. This covers about 4,200 marriages.
Unlike the Marriage Index, which is sorted alphabetically by both the Brides' and Grooms' names, the Registry is sorted only by Grooms' names. So, how can you locate a marriage given only the Bride's name? Simple, look for her in the Marriage Index, get the Groom's name and look for him in the Registry.
Be aware that for widows remarrying, their married name is used. However her parents are listed - this will give their maiden name.
It should be noted that there are some couples listed only in the Index and others only in the Registry.
In the future, more links will be provided to simplify the switching back and forth between the two data bases.
This is a work in progress; to date it only covers Family names from A to F. the remainder will be added in the fullness of time.
