My great grandfather Israel Francis YOUNG
Some of his tools: draw knives and scythe;
and a whet stone with oxen horn to keep the stone moist.
Johnny Young Rockers
They were first made by Israel's cousin John George Daniel.
Israel and another YOUNG cousin, Nathan, also built them.
To distinguish between the three of them,
they made different knobs on the two risers:
Israel as shown,
Johnny in the shape of an oblong sphere, and
Nathan in the shape of a bell.
An Uncle, Franz/Francis/Frank JUNG/YOUNG made many spinning wheels.
Israel and his family around 1910:
son Clarence (my grandfather), wife Johanna, daughter Emily, and son Daniel.
They had two other children who died in infantcy in the 1870's.
Lillian (1910-2005), Clarence, Gladys, and Merrill (my father), taken about 1927.
Clarence and Israel and oxen at home about 1927.
The building down on the shore is the fish store
(not where fish are sold, but rather where fish and equipment were stored).
A view looking back up the hill about 1910.
The house on the left is where my grandfather and father were born.
Clarence in his row boat that took him
across the Inlet when he was courting Gladys.
After they were married,
they purchased a motor boat they named "The Row No More".
My parents on their wedding day and about 40 years later.
My sister and I about 1945.
My kinder; Stacey, Scott, and Rebecca.
